The Rio Open presented by Claro hdtv will have 5 top 20 ATP players fighting for the title of the biggest tournament in South America. The city of Rio de Janeiro is getting ready to host South America’s biggest tennis event, the Rio Open, a combined ATP World Tour 500 and a WTA International, from Februray 15th to the 23rd. IMX, a joint venture of sports and entertainment between EBX Group and IMG Worldwide, is bringing the event to Rio, in what will also be the biggest tennis tournament of Brazil’s history. The Rio Open will take place at the Brazilian Jockey Club with eight clay courts, including a stadium to host 7,000 people, with a view to the city’s most famous post card, the Christ. David Ferrer has already committed to the event that will be part of the clay court swing, with a total prize money of U$ 1,5 million (US$ 1,25 million for the ATP and US$ 250,000 for  the WTA). IMX announced in April 2012 the date acquisition of Memphis, with an ATP World Tour 500 and a WTA International.
