For the first time in ten editions, the Rio Open presented by Claro will have three Brazilians at the quarterfinals.

Best ranked Thiago Seyboth Wild was joined this Thursday by Thiago Monteiro and 17-year-old sensation João Fonseca.

Wild takes on reining champion Cameron Norrie while Monteiro faces Sebastian Baez and Fonseca will play qualifier Mariano Navone.

It’s the first time the country has multiple quarterfinalists in any ATP Tour event since 2020, in Santiago.

“I'm really good friends with both Thiagos and it makes me really happy to be part of such an important moment after so many legendaries Brazilian players. But I want to keep going”, said Fonseca, who defeated Christian Garin on Thursday to become the 5th youngest ATP Tour quarterfinalist since 2000 and the first one born in 2006 or later.

“I’ve known João since he was a kid and with Monteiro I used to practice with him when I was a kid and he always inspired me. It great to be with them in this and it would be really cool to have at least one of us in the semis”, said Wild.
