World’s number two and top seeded at the ATP event, German Alexander Zverev takes on Chinese Bu Yunchaokete at his debut in Rio. This will be their first matchup at an ATP level tournament.
Second seed in Rio, Italian Lorenzo Musetti will have to wait to find out his opponent at the opening round as he faces a qualifier.
Brazilian sensation João Fonseca takes on Frenchman Alexandre Muller in his quest to shine in home soil. Last year, Next Gen’s champion made it to the quarterfinals in Rio after winning his first ATP Tour level match at his debut at the Rio Open.
Argentinian Sebastian Baez will begin his tittle defense against Sumit Nagal (IND) at the opening round in Rio.
"This is an event I enjoy very much and a place where I feel good. It’s the biggest event in South America so obviously all opponents are tough. It’s going to be a challenge to face a guy like Nagal, who I don’t know much about, but I’m confident I can do well”, said last year’s champion.
Runner-up in 2024, Mariano Navone faces Spaniard Roberto Carballes Baena in the first round.
Brazilian top player Thiago Seyboth Wild will take on Jaume Munar from Spain in a rematch from last year’s round of 16 clash in Rio. In 2024 Wild won in three sets. It was their first matchup at an ATP level event.
Thiago Monteiro plays Argentinian Facundo Diaz Acosta at his debut at this year’s tournament. “It's always really special to play in front of my home crowd, my family and friends and I know it’s going to be a tough match. He’s a leftie like me but I guess I’m up for the challenge”, said the Brazilian.
